“Nemalux was the only flood-proof solution. The quality of light is much better than previous and visibility’s great.”
Calgary's 2013 flood was a "once in 100 years" flood. It decimated existing lighting fixtures within the city's LRT tunnels. This reparation needed a plan for lighting, subject to temporary or permanent submersion. The waters had almost wholly submerged some of the public transit tunnels.
After the flood, the City of Calgary repaired the city-wide damage. Calgary LRT looked towards Nemalux for a lighting solution. The IP66 RS Series LED light has a Class I Division 2 rating for wet locations. The LED fixture has proven to be impact, vibration, and corrosion resistant. Our newer XR and AR series luminaires have now replaced the RS.
At the time, the RS easily outperformed 400-watt metal halide and HPS fixtures. It exceeded in brightness while consuming only half the electricity. The temporary or permanent submersion fixture provides a whiter, brighter light. Within the tunnels, the RS is daisy-chained to other RS fixtures.
The field-serviceable RS allows upgrades and maintenance beyond the warranty period.

The standard AR is a 10,000 – 50,000 lumen floodlight for typical mounting heights of 25′-100′ and is certified for general and marine location use under the following schemes.
The XR is an 8,000 – 20,000 lumen floodlight for typical mounting heights of 8′-25′ and has pressure equalization membranes that allow for humidity control without stressing the electronic.
