Agribusiness

Manitoba’s fertile western and southern land produces almost 10% of the nation’s agricultural products, broken down into livestock (3.3%), and miscellaneous crops such as canola, wheat, soybeans, flax, other grains, pulses and vegetables (6.7%). Wheat is Manitoba’s most important crop, accounting for more than 40% of crop production value, followed by canola and flaxseed. Other major crops are barley, oats and rye.

A strong food processing sector has emerged, built on top of its leading role as a producer of agricultural commodities, accounting for 26 per cent of manufacturing sales in 2018. Major food processing products in Manitoba include processed meat, frozen french fries, processed potato products, grain and oilseed products, dairy products, agricultural feed products and a variety of vegetables with exports across Canada and the world. The most common agricultural activities are: cattle farming (34.6%), assorted grains (19.0%) and oilseed (7.9%). Manitoba is the nation’s largest producer of sunflower seed and dry beans, and one of the leading sources of potatoes.

Portage la Prairie is a major potato processing center, and is home to the McCain Foods and Simplot food processing plants, providing french fries for McDonald’s and Wendy’s fast food franchise. Can-Oat Milling, one of the largest oat mills in the world is also located in Manitoba.

Grain Silos

Hazardous location lighting is required for food industry areas such as grain silos where airborne dust constitutes an explosion hazard. Dark Sky certification is required for staging and raw product yards where large volumes of fruits or vegetables may be stored outdoors. Mining

Nemalux lighting applications are designed for all mining environments. With customizable light beam profiles and a variety of applications, Nemalux can deliver a beam profile to identify tripping hazards, find ore up a working face, or detect interesting features on a conveyor belt. At the same time, our applications are durable, as they are rated for any situation a mine could encounter.

Lighting is critical in mines if you look at the history of safe lighting in Mining, as staff relies upon the correct light profile to avoid physical hazards and other dangers. As a carefully crafted beam profile can increase productivity in open mines, it can also improve perception in underground mines. By focusing the tuned portable light beam on a working face, you will allow miners to improve coal or ore shearing.

Open Pit Mines

Open-pit mines are naturally large areas that need to be illuminated. Equipment such as crushers sits on large open areas, crushing quarried stones and generating clouds of dust. The AR and XR are ideal for operating in these extreme environments with an industrial design that enables them to operate at an optimal temperature range even in the presence of constant grime. Larger fin spacing, triple-coated surface, and a surface designed to support debris shedding enable operation in the dustiest environment. IP 66 & 67 ingress protection allows operators to hose down the luminaires in the unlikely event that debris does accumulate. Their large lumen output, especially the AR, allows it to be used in high mast applications to illuminate wide areas with the lowest possible power.

Underground Mines

The BL is a replacement for vapor tight fluorescent lights that have long been used in the mining industry. Following the tradition of innovation in the mining industry, the BL improves upon fluorescents in lifetime, lumens output, durability, and power consumption. A thru wiring mode allows BL’s to be chained together in long runs as commonly practiced in the mining industry, following the contours of long mining tunnels.  The large surface area of the BL fixture results in a very high cooling rate, giving it exceptional performance in the elevated temperatures of mines.

General Manufacturing

Nemalux offers lighting solutions for the factory, whether it is high bay general lighting or focused task lighting. The Nemalux AR is used for both indoor high bay applications or for outdoor area lighting of large work yards. The MR is a direct replacement for legacy 75-150 W HID lamps. Construction

The construction industry is consistently rated as one of the most hazardous industries in the world. It alone accounts for 19% of accidents across all industries in the U.S. Danger lurks around every corner on a construction site. By its very nature, construction sites are a high occupation health risk environment. Low bay lighting

The MR and XR are well suited for temporary low bay lighting systems that requires approximately 10K lumens. Equipped with secondary optics that can be configured for a wide range of optical profiles, a variety of mounting brackets and additional pole mounting styles, they can be easily set up for almost any temporary lighting scenario. They are ideal for lighting walkways, staircases, platforms and catwalks on a construction site. With complimentary lighting layout from Nemalux, selection of the proper optical profile can minimize fixture count, illuminating a walkway with up to 30% fewer luminaires than competitors.

High bay lighting

The AR confers the same benefits as the MR and XR but is a high bay model outputting up to 50K lumens so can be used alone or ganged together using pole mount brackets to flood a wide area of the construction site for good night time visibility.

Light Stringer

The Nemalux LS series Light Stringer is a modular, portable lighting system that allows construction site workers to easily connect a string of luminaires together using approved electric cords to light a long section on a worksite. Spaced 8 feet apart, they meet OSHA lighting requirements. Cords can be replaced onsite, extending the lifetime of the product when the cable is worn.
